Isn't it funny, You come into the world an innocent child, pure souled and unabashed, not a care in the world. You go to school and the most important things in your life are getting good grades/being popular/looking good etc. Trivial things. Then you finish school, the tether comes off, someone pats you on the head and sends you off to find your way in life.
School preps you for most things in life, but it seldom touches on the pursuit of tiny pieces of paper, which have been bestowed with this awesome power I'm not entirely sure it deserves.
I currently have a good job, I'm creative and motivated. I want to start my own business, I have the plans drawn out, the cashflow forecasts done. Hell, I've even drawn up flyers, the logo the signage. I just need monies and this is where I'm stuck.
For a moment, think if money didn't exist, if it just disappeared. People would probably feel less pressured, but the world would all but grind to a halt. People wouldn't work if they weren't getting paid for it and I think this is perhaps what the problem is with the world. Too much faith in the Pound/Dollar/Euro/Yen, people will do pretty much anything just to have that money and therefore Power, in their posession. Nothing is out of the question sex, lying, deceiving even murder can result in money. It's always there rearing it's ugly head.
I'm not one to preach for peace on earth because, well it couldn't happen, but I can't help but think if people didn't LIVE to make money and the idea of currency as we know-it, was relegated to simply a by product of living our lives, the world would be a better place. It may not be the peace on earth most people want, but it would be a lot more pleasant a world to live in.
Imagine. Managers not striving for astronomical results. Companies being less greedy and giving back to communities, mentoring and tutoring the under privileged, to at least give people like me, you, us a chance to show that we have the power to change the world and make lives better.
But until the link with money and power has been erased, or at the very least lessened this is simply a beautiful pipe dream. Sigh.
